World music and jazz fusion drummer, Paco Sery from Cote d’Ivoire and Maliain musician, arranger and composer, Cheick Tidiane Seck will headline the International Jazz Day celebrations on 1st May, 2019.
This year’s theme is celebrating African Jazz, and will also feature supporting performances from celebrated Kenyan jazz acts Shamsi Music, Nairobi Horns Project , Jacob & Kavutha Asiyo, Kato & The Change Band and the Ghetto Classics. The show will also feature Mandla Mlangeni and the Tune Creation Committee (South Africa) and Sylwester Ostrowski & The Jazz Brigade ft. Freddie Hendrix (Poland & USA).
Shamsi Music will be delivering a high octane dose of music from their upcoming sophomore album, AfroSynthesis. It promises to be an exciting and memorable performance from Shamsi, who will be gracing the SIJF stage for the 5th time since their debut in 2016. Incidentally, the band turns 5 this year, and they are excited to deliver an epic experience as part of their year long 5th anniversary celebrations!
